Cardamom oil is distilled from the dried fruits of the Cardamom plant which is a perennial herbaceous plant indigenous to the south of India and Sri Lanka. In Sri Lanka Cardamom is cultivated in the central hills in shady areas of forests under carefully controlled conditions. They are found as large scale plantations and as home garden crops.
The mature fruits which are really pods are hand picked and dried in barns by means of a regulated hot air supply. Only in this manner are the widely demanded Lanka Greens (LG) and Lanka Light Greens (LLG) produced. These are the quality raw materials that are used in the distillations that produce Cardamom oil.
